How To Stop Over-Giving

Feeling worthy of your own time and attention is a skill that most need to learn and incorporate into everyday life.  Society teaches that you must do good, give to others, and be a good person.  

Yet, you can’t give what you don’t already have (a.k.a. energy, feeling of fullness and love, etc.) - when you’re running on an empty tank. 

You know how good it feels to share your gifts and talents with others and how they benefit. Yet, when you over-give, you can experience burnout from overgiving and overextending yourself.  This is when it is vital to look underneath the surface to see where you may be overgiving, overcompensating, overworking, etc. - and what your true motive is.

Oftentimes there is a big disconnect between what your heart  deeply desires and what your head tells you that you’re capable and worthy of.   

It’s one thing to say what you want and it’s another thing to believe with every cell of your being that you’re worthy of receiving it.

Being An Instrument For God

Self Help Addiction

Last week I had a conversation with a close friend about how we all can get into the trap of self-help addiction and believing that paying attention to your growth and evolution means fixing yourself.

In other words, there is something wrong with you that needs to be helped, (a.k.a. self-help).

Not true. There isn't anything wrong with you - and nothing that needs to be "fixed". 

Even Iyanla Vanzant, who has her own show on OWN called Iyanla Fix My Life - insists that she doesn't fix anyone's life but gives people the tools to do it themselves.

How To Get Out of Overwhelm

When you feel overwhelmed by all there is to do - you feel powerless and buried under a heap of responsibilities. You may often struggle with feeling stuck and unmotivated and hear your inner critic voice say - "Why bother even trying  - it's not going to make a difference anyways.
