It is not because things are difficult that we do not dare. It is because we do not dare that they are difficult. ~ Seneca ~
Nothing (in my opinion,), will build your confidence faster than to have courage in the face of fear. To act when your knees are shaking and your palms are sweating. At that moment, you are taking a BIG leap of Faith and you have no idea what will happen. You are forced to jump and pray a net will be found!
I bet you've had experiences where you've looked back on something you did that was scary and thought, “Wow, I can’t believe I did that!”. Those are the moments when you get to see what you’re really made of, especially when you did something (or many things) that you may not have thought you could do.
Having courage reveals character.
Consider the books you read and stories that resonate with you, do you value the climb or the end result more? Most likely it's the climb because the end result is great, but what really matters is the character that gets revealed along the way.
Courage isn't always easy to find however. It often gets revealed as you're facing fear and taking risks. You truly learn how brave you are as you go.
It's impossible (again my opinion) to find the courage to take risks and make important decisions that will help/force you to grow without Faith. Faith that whatever the outcome, when you take action the results you receive are always in your highest good.
When you know that Truth, how can you not take action and/or “risks”?
Think of it this way - Faith is like a free weight. You need to lift it up every day consistently in order to fully buff your beautiful, sexy, curvy courage muscles.
Muhammad Ali says it well, "He/She who is not courageous enough to take risks will accomplish nothing in life.".
This isn’t just talk, it’s all about the action. It’s being able to say YES to yourself, your dreams and the life you not only want to live, but are making the commitment to choose to live. This decision and approach to life always requires you take some serious risks, have tremendous courage, and rely on good ol’ Faith to get you through.
Whatever it is – whether it’s what to eat for breakfast, or what big leap to make in your business/career, there is always some decision to be made right in this moment about what you’re going to choose to do. As Deepak Chopra writes in his amazing book: The Seven Spiritual Laws Of Success: “Whether you like it or not, everything that is happening at this moment is a result of the choices you've made in the past.”
So let me ask you some questions:
What choices do you need to make right now about your future that will propel your forward instead of having you fall backwards?
If money weren’t an issue, or what others would think of you wasn’t an issue, what choices would you easily make without a bat of an eyelash?
Write your answers to these questions down and then I strongly encourage you to say YES to yourself, your future, and your dreams – because always, always, always you’ll be fine.
Remember this: Faith=Courage, Courage=Character, and Character=Confidence.
You can’t make a mistake, you can only grow and evolve – and everything is for your highest good, everything.
Want unshakable confidence? Revisit your Faith.
As always, it is your choice.
