Fear of Time Running Out

Man alone measures time. Man alone chimes the hour. And because of this, man alone suffers a paralyzing fear that no other creature endures: A fear of time running out.
~Mitch Albom

Being a creative soul means that you're more impatient than most.  You most likely walk around on a daily basis feeling an unrelenting feeling of anxiousness - a feeling that, no matter how hard you try, you can't seem to put your finger on what is causing it.

You feel impatient, but why? Why do you feel as if time keeps passing by and you aren't comfortable with it?

If you go deeper into the impatience and anxiousness, you'll most likely find a fear the fear of time running out before you realize your full potential.

The fear of time running out is a common one and especially if you're someone who knows you have a ton of creative potential to realize and express in this lifetime.

This fear is much more prevalent in your life if you didn't have the opportunity or environment to safely express your creativity as a child.

And, if you're spending your days doing something that doesn't feel creative - and doesn't feed your soul, well, the time running out fear is on overdrive.

Throughout the years, I've coached many people through a variety of transitions but the common thread in all of these has been their career what they do, how they do it, and does it make a difference in this world is what their main motivation is.

Most everyone is striving to take control over their work and their life and want to feel more creative, independent and that they are driving their own boat.

However, many aren't in a position to take the leap into a full-blown creative business just yet because they have a household to maintain, a family to feed, and bills to pay.

So, what do you do when you know that you put on earth to do something meaningful, creative and you also want your time to feel more free, independent and worthwhile?

How can you thread your own authenticity and values into your daily life, even if you aren't where you want (or expect) to be?

It can be very frustrating to be in a situation that you don't want to be in.   Whether you're in a job that you don't enjoy, or you're not where you want to be with your existing business.  Or your life just isn't what you expected it to be at this point in time.

Just know that wherever you are, there will always be a new level that you'll be aspiring to.

With that in mind, have a look at the following 3 points to help you appreciate where are on the way to where you're going:

Your Time Is NOW: I heard someone say recently that contentment isn't about not wanting more, but it's being happy where you are on the way to where you're going. This is so relevant to any stage of life.  There is an underlying belief that if you achieve what you've always desired, then life will be perfect and you'll feel fulfilled. Not true. We are spiritual, creative beings having a human experience there will always be something else were aspiring to -  matter what level you're at. Remember, what was once your ceiling will eventually become your floor so learn to appreciate where you are and know what it is a stepping stone to where you're meant to be eventually. Again, contentment isn't settling, its appreciating where you are on the way to where you're going.

Clarity is so under-rated: I find myself  repeating the same statement to clients which is:  clarity is so under-rated. Most of us were taught that action and doing are where it's at, but that's not necessarily true - especially when you don't know where you're aiming.  Clarity and having a vision of where you yearn to go is so powerful. It gives the present moment more meaning because you begin to see that each step is truly a stepping stone. The thing to remember with a vision is  - if you know the how, you don't have a vision, you have a plan. Dream BIG and allow yourself to dream about what you'd love to see happen and experience. Dream from a place of not acquiring or accomplishing, but from a place of desiring to feel and experience  - and you'll be amazed at what will transpire in the process.

Know you are supported: when you write out a vision as I described above dreaming BIG and not knowing the how, you have to trust that the Universe is on your side and will bring things and people and opportunities to you vs. you feeling like you need to make it all happen yourself. This is a hard thing to do especially if you were taught that doing is where your worth and value come from. Make a commitment to allow yourself to operate and dream and take action from a much calmer, serene, secure place and you'll be amazed at not only what transpires, but what miracles happen that will you leave you feeling shocked.

As we get older, the fear of time running out becomes so much more prevalent, but realize that there is nothing you can do to stop time, and that no matter what you're striving to see happen, you'll always want to aspire to be and do more. So why not be happy now and value and appreciate the now wherever you are because you'll need that habit in the future as well!

As always, it's your choice.
